Toon de Gouw

Toon de Gouw (born January 14, 1960 in Vlijmen ) is a Dutch jazz musician ( trumpet ).

Live and act

De Gouw started eleven years ago, on the trumpet light music playing. Interested in jazz since 1977, he studied at the Rotterdam Conservatorium from 1979, where he has been a senior lecturer for trumpet since 1985. First he belonged to the Gemeentereinigingsorkest Vaalbleek , with whom he recorded three albums; Niko Langenhuijsen brought him for his album Hypo , which was awarded an Edison in 1985 . He was also active in Loek Dikkers Waterland Octet . In 1984 he became a member of the ICP Orchestra and then played in the big band Contraband . He also worked for Nueva Manteca , in the quintet of Paul van Kemenade , the Maiden Voyage Big Band by Paul Stocker , the Metropole Orkest , the Timeless Orchestra and in Klaus Flenter New Generation . Since 1998 he can be heard in the groups of Pierre Courbois . The discographer Tom Lord recorded 19 De Gouw recordings between 1979 and 2006.
