Anne La Berge
Anne La Berge (* 1955 in Palo Alto ) is an American flautist and composer who is best known for improvised music . She has lived in Amsterdam since 1989.
Live and act
La Berge grew up in Minnesota. Since the late 1970s she has been concerned with the interpretation of contemporary chamber music on the flute, but also with the inclusion of interactive computer systems. During her doctoral studies at the University of California, San Diego in the mid-1980s, she formed a duo with flutist John Fonville, who commissioned compositions and explored advanced techniques on the flute, particularly with regard to microtonality .
In 1999 she founded the improvisation series Kraakgeluiden , together with Steve Heather and Cor Fuhler , in Amsterdam , which presents weekly electro-acoustic music. In 2000 and 2001 she toured North America with Gert-Jan Prins in the duo United Noise Toys . From 2006 she worked with David La Berge, fusing film, narrative voices and music performance.
Her works as a composer have been awarded on the labels New World Records , Z6 Records, Largo, Artifact, Etcetera, HatArt , Frog Peak, Einstein, X-OR, Unsounds, Canal Street, Rambo, esc.rec. and data published. She took part as a soloist, but also in the Fonville / La Berge Duo, with the Ensemble Modern , in the Duo United Noise Toys, Rasp / Hasp, the Duo Bievre / La Berge, Apricot My Lady, the Corkestra, with Lucas Niggli Big ZOOM, MAZE , with Lukas Simonis, with Sam Pluta and with Joe Williamson .
