Christian Marien

Christian Marien (* 1975 in Münster ) is a German jazz and improvisation musician ( drums ).

Act

Marien first studied drums in Amsterdam, and since 2000 in Berlin. As a member of the duo Superimpose (with Matthias Müller ) and the groups The Astronomical Unit and Miss Platnum , he played concerts in Europe and the USA and released albums on labels such as Leo Records , gligg and Jazzwerkstatt. He also belongs to the quartet of Benjamin Weidekamp ( serial, not serious ), the Hannes Zerbe Jazz Orchestra (with whom he released the albums Eisleriana and Erlkönig at JazzHausMusik ) and to the groups Derek plays Eric and Z-Country Paradise . In the trio Ritsche , Zast & Marien , he made numerous performances and festival appearances and published videos on arte . He also worked with Frank Gratkowski , Maggie Nicols , Matthias Schubert , Sofia Jernberg , Achim Kaufmann , Gebhard Ullmann and John Butcher . He is also interested in interdisciplinary collaboration with dancers, actors and visual artists.
