Willi Keller
Willi Kellers (* 21st December 1950 in Münster as Wilhelm Heinrich Keller ) is a German drummer of modern creative jazz and new improvised music .
Live and act
Kellers studied music at the universities of Münster and Detmold . He then worked as a theater composer for the stages in Bochum , Cologne , Hamburg , Basel and Vienna . Since 1980 he has performed in a duo with Peter Brötzmann . Projects followed with Achim Knispel , with his own workshop band, in formations with Frank Wright , Harry Miller , Willem Breuker and Brötzmann. From the mid-1980s he worked with Fred Frith , Tony Oxley and Phil Minton . In 1989 he played in a quartet with Manfred Schoof , Jay Oliver and Brötzmann. From 1990 he also worked in a trio with Keith and Julie Tippetts , as well as with Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky and Barre Phillips , but also with Manfred Hering and Borah Bergman . He currently plays with Petrowsky, Thomas Borgmann and Christoph Winckel ( Ruf der Heimat ), in the Trio Boom Box with Borgmann and Akira Andō and with Abdourahmane Diop. Since 2017 Kellers has been playing in the collective "N" , an ensemble to which Susanne Wegener, Theo Jörgensmann , Heinz-Erich Gödecke , Akira Ando, Jens Tolksdorf and Peter Ortmann belong.
Concert tours led to most European countries, but also to the USA, China and Siberia.
