The Hamburg European Open 2019 was a tennis tournament that took place in Hamburg from July 22nd to 28th, 2019 . It was part of the ATP Tour 2019 and was played outdoors on sand. In the same week were in Atlanta , the BB & T Atlanta Open and in Gstaad , the J. Safra Sarasin Swiss Open Gstaad played. However, in contrast to the German Open German Tennis Championships, which belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category, these only belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category .

The defending champions were Nikolos Bassilaschwili in singles and Julio Peralta and Horacio Zeballos in doubles. With Bassilashvili for the first time since Roger Federer (2005) a player managed to defend his title in an individual.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The total prize money was 1,718,170 euros; the financial obligations amounted to 1,855,490 euros.

qualification

The qualification took place on July 20 and 21, 2019. Four qualifying places were played out in singles and one in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser in singles.
