Daniel Altmaier (born September 12, 1998 in Kempen ) is a German tennis player .

Career

Youth and Junior Tour

Daniel Altmaier started playing tennis at the TUS St. Hubert in his birthplace Kempen in 2004 at the age of five. In 2008 he became German champion in the U10 age group. In his youth he went through some training programs at the DTB . The tennis and mental trainer Markus Hornig has been looking after Altmaier since 2015 and has been employed by the DTB as a DTB honorary trainer since 2017.

The man from Kempen played a few tournaments on the ITF Juniors Tour, where he won his only title in 2016. He won the Allianz Kundler German Juniors in Berlin, where Rainer Schüttler and Gaël Monfils triumphed in their youth. He also reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon and reached 161st place in the junior world rankings.

As of 2016

In the Profis Tour he won his first title on the ITF Future Tour a week later, followed immediately by another Future title. In 2016 he finally won a total of three titles and two further finals. He finished first year in the top 500. early 2017 he left with his Challengerpremiere in Bangkok take notice when he won there the qualification starting six matches in a row and only the semifinals the former top ten player Janko Tipsarević subject. After two more futures victories, Altmaier also celebrated his debut in the top division, the ATP World Tour , when he fought his way through qualification in Geneva . In the main draw, Sam Querrey finally gave him no chance. Two rounds further to the quarter-finals was in Antalya in June , where he was able to defeat a top 100 player and Marsel İlhan as Lucky Loser with Víctor Estrella . In the quarter-finals, the eventual tournament winner Yūichi Sugita was a size too big. Through this success he reached a new record in the world rankings with rank 210 .

In 2014 , at the age of 15, Altmaier made his debut in the 1st Bundesliga at Gladbach HTC , for which he also played in 2015 .
