The Citi Open 2019 was a tennis tournament that took place in Washington, DC from July 29th to August 4th, 2019 . It was part of the ATP Tour 2019 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the Generali Open was played in Kitzbühel and the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis Mifel in Los Cabos , which, unlike the Citi Open, which belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category, belonged to the lower endowed category ATP World Tour 250 . The women's tournament of the WTA Tour 2019 also took place in Washington .

The defending champion was Alexander Zverev in singles and Jamie Murray and Bruno Soares in doubles .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 48 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The 16 top seeded players each received a bye in the first round. The total prize pool was $ 1,895,290; total financial liabilities were $ 2,046,340.

The qualification took place on July 27th and 28th, 2019. Six qualifiers were played in singles and a pairing in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main field. There were also three lucky losers.
