Thai-Son Kwiatkowski (born February 13, 1992 in Charlotte , North Carolina ) is an American tennis player .

Career

College tennis

Thai-Son Kwiatkowski is of Polish and Vietnamese origin. Until 2017 where he studied from 2013 University of Virginia , the study commerce . During this time he played for the college team on the tennis team . He won the US college championship with the team in 2015 and 2016 . In 2017 he also won the singles by beating William Blumberg in the final . This success secured him a wildcard for the US Open .

Professional tour

Kwiatkowski is mainly on the lower class tournaments of the Future and Challenger Tour. So far, he has celebrated a single and three double titles on the Future Tour.

He made his debut on the ATP World Tour in Newport . There he was used with a wildcard in singles, but lost his opening match against Peter Gojowczyk in two sets. Due to his success at the US college championships in 2017, he received a wildcard for the main draw of the US Open . There he met the number 23 seeded German Mischa Zverev in the first round . After a courageous appearance, he had to admit defeat in five sets 6: 7 (5: 7), 6: 4, 6: 4, 5: 7, 3: 6.
