The Brisbane International 2019 was a tennis tournament , the December 31, 2018 through January 6, 2019 in Brisbane took place. It was part of the ATP Tour 2019 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week, the Qatar ExxonMobil Open was played in Doha and the Tata Maharashtra Open in Pune , which, like the Brisbane International, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category . The women's tournament of the WTA Tour 2019 also took place in Brisbane .

Defending champion in singles was Nick Kyrgios . Henri Kontinen and John Peers won the last event in doubles .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each received a bye in the first round.

qualification

The qualification took place on December 29th and 30th, 2018. Four qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament. There was also a lucky loser.
