life and career

Duckworth played for the first time at the World Tour level in 2012 , apart from one lost first round match in doubles at the 2011 Australian Open . At the tournament in Brisbane he received a wild card and defeated French Nicolas Mahut , who was 80th in the ATP rankings at the time, 6: 4, 6: 4 in the first ATP individual of his career . However , Duckworth clearly lost the round of 16 against Mahut's compatriot Gilles Simon , seeded in second position, 3: 6, 5: 7. A week later he received another wildcard at the ATP tournament in Sydney , but this time he failed clearly in the first round against the Finn Jarkko Nieminen 6: 2, 6: 2. He then made his Grand Slam debut at the Australian Open in 2012 . Equipped again with a wildcard, he met the Estonian qualifier Jürgen Zopp , whom he defeated 6: 3, 6: 4, 6: 4. In the second round, Duckworth met on position 9 seeded Janko Tipsarević , against whom he was eliminated in four sets.
