The 2019 Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships was a tennis tournament that took place in Tokyo, Chofu City , from October 30th to October 6th, 2019 . It was part of the ATP Tour 2019 and was played outdoors on hard courts. The same week the China Open was played in Beijing , which, like the Rakuten Japan Open Tennis Championships, belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category .

The defending champions were Daniil Medwedew in singles and in doubles the duo Ben McLachlan and Jan-Lennard Struff .

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 32 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs.

qualification

The qualification took place on September 28 and 29, 2019. Four qualifying places in the individual competition and one place in the doubles competition were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
