The Citi Open 2018 was a tennis tournament that took place in Washington, DC from July 30th to August 5th, 2018 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2018 and was played outdoors on hard courts. In the same week the Generali Open was played in Kitzbühel and the Abierto Mexicano de Tenis Mifel in Los Cabos , which, unlike the Citi Open, which belonged to the ATP World Tour 500 category, belonged to the lower endowed category ATP World Tour 250 . The ladies' tournament of the WTA Tour 2018 also took place in Washington .

The defending champions were Alexander Zverev in singles and Henri Kontinen and John Peers in doubles .

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 48 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The 16 top seeded players each received a bye in the first round. The total prize pool was $ 1,890,165; total financial liabilities were $ 2,146,815.

The qualification took place on July 28 and 29, 2018. Six qualifiers were played in singles and a pairing in doubles, which entitle them to participate in the main field. There was also a lucky loser in singles.
