The Shanghai Rolex Masters 2018 was a tennis tournament that took place in Shanghai from October 7-14, 2018 . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2018 and was played outdoors on hard courts. This season it was the eighth of nine tournaments in the ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category .
Defending champion in singles were Roger Federer , in doubles the pairing Henri Kontinen and John Peers .
The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 56 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 24 pairs. The eight top seeded players in singles or pairings in doubles each received a bye in the first round.

The qualification took place on October 5th and 6th, 2018. Seven qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
