The 39th International Tennis Championships in Germany took place from July 31 to August 8, 1937 on the Rothenbaum in Hamburg .

Because of the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin, the tournament was not held last year.

Defending champion Gottfried von Cramm was eliminated in the round of 16 against John Bromwich . In return, Henner Henkel won the tournament in the final against Vivian McGrath . Von Cramm did not compete in the men's doubles, so the defending champions Hans Denker and Henner Henkel played together again, but this time they failed in the quarter-finals to the British Don Butler and Frank Wilde , who in turn lost to the two Australians Jack Crawford and Vivian McGrath in the final . The semi-finals The Austrian Georg von Metaxa reached singles .

For the fourth time in a row, Hilde Sperling won the women's singles title and also won the women's doubles with Madzy Rollin Couquerque from the Netherlands against the French-German combination Lilí de la Valdène and Totta Zehden . The final opponent in the singles was Marie Luise Horn , who won the mixed doubles against Sperling and the South African Norman Farquharson alongside Hans Denker . The other two semi-finalists in the singles were Annelies Ullstein and Totta Zehden.
