The 42nd International Tennis Championships of Germany took place from August 3 to August 8, 1948 on the Rothenbaum in Hamburg .

After nine years of interruption due to the Second World War, the tournament could be held again. The internationality was limited to the Australian Jack Harper , who was friends with Gottfried von Cramm , the Estonian Kristjan Lasn, who lives in Lübeck, and two British women who live in Hamburg. 13 years after his last participation, von Cramm won his fifth singles title and, with Harper, doubles. Ursula Rosenow also won two titles in singles and mixed games alongside Ernst Buchholz . From the winners of 1939, Änne Schneider-Peitz was also there. Henner Henkel stayed in the war. His brother Ferdinand reached the double finals.
