The 49th International Tennis Championships in Germany took place from July 30th to August 7th 1955 on the Rothenbaum in Hamburg .

The mixed doubles Erika Vollmer / Hugh Stewart and the men's doubles Gottfried von Cramm / Budge Patty successfully defended their titles. For the 48-year-old von Cramm, this 14th title win in Hamburg was the last appearance at a major tournament. In the men's singles, the defending champion Patty lost in the semi-finals against Poland's Władysław Skonecki . The other semi-final, won by the American Art Larsen against Jaroslav Drobný , was considered to be the best game played in Hamburg after the Second World War. Larsen then also won the final in his only participation in Hamburg.

In the women's category, the Australian Beryl Penrose , who last competed in Hamburg in 1952 , won both singles and doubles alongside her compatriot Mary Carter .
