The 71st International Tennis Championships of Germany took place from May 9th to May 15th 1977 on the Rothenbaum in Hamburg .
The tournament was part of the Grand Prix Circuit set up by the ILTF (for both men and women) . At the same time, the men's singles final of the World Championship Tennis took place in Dallas .
The defending champions Eddie Dibbs and Sue Barker had not started again. New titleholders were Paolo Bertolucci and Laura duPont , who beat Heidi Eisterlehner in the final . DuPont eliminated Katja Ebbinghaus in the semifinals . The men's doubles were won by Bob Hewitt and Karl Meiler . In the women's doubles, the South Africans Linky Boshoff and Ilana Kloss were able to defend their title.
