Manuel Orantes (born February 6, 1949 in Granada ) is a former Spanish tennis player .

He won the Spanish Open three times in his career , but the highlights of his career were winning the US Open in Forest Hills , when he defeated the top seeded Jimmy Connors in three straight sets on September 7, 1975 , and winning the Masters in Houston in 1976. Orantes won a total of 33 singles and 22 doubles titles. On August 23, 1973 he was led to position two in the world rankings.

Orantes was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame in 2012.
