The 52nd International Tennis Championships in Germany took place from August 3 to 12, 1958 on the Rothenbaum in Hamburg .

In the men, the Swede set time Sven Davidson by which the final against Belgium's Jacques Brichant five match points fended. For the three-time defending champion Mervyn Rose , these championships were not so successful. In the singles he was eliminated in the semifinals against Brichant, in the mixed with Erika Vollmer he lost in the quarterfinals and in the men's doubles with his compatriot Warren Woodcook in the second round. Here the two Mexicans Francisco Contreras and Mario Llamas were successful against the two exiled Yugoslavs Ladislav Legenstajn and Vladimir Petrović . Her compatriot Yola Ramirez won the mixed doubles against Paris-based Hungarian Antal Jancsó after her individual title last year .

There were Australian victories in the women’s singles by Lorraine Coghlan and in the women’s doubles by Mary Hawton and Thelma Long , who were successful against the siblings Edda and Ilse Buding . The 38-year-old Ernst Buchholz was there for the last time in Hamburg .
