Phil Dent (born February 14, 1950 in Sydney ) is a former Australian tennis player .

He won three tournaments in singles and 25 in doubles and played for Australia in the Davis Cup .

He celebrated his greatest successes with his long-time doubles partner John Alexander , with whom he won the Australian Open in 1975 and 22 other tournaments and reached the finals of the French Open and Wimbledon .

He won his second Grand Slam title in 1976 in the US Open mixed competition alongside Billie Jean King .

He is the father of Taylor Dent , who was also a professional tennis player.
