Career

1999-2007

López Jaén played only a few tournaments on the Junior Tour, his best placement was a 76th place in April 2000. As early as 1999, he played his first professional tournaments on the third-rate ITF Future Tour . There he won his first of eight individual titles in 2001. Two years later he celebrated his first future title in doubles and was significantly more successful in his career with a total of 43 double titles on the Future Tour than in singles. He made his first appearance on the higher endowed ATP Challenger Tour in 2002 in Valencia , where he beat Jamie Delgado , who was 300 places better, in the first round . At the end of the year he was in the top 300 in singles, and in doubles even in the top 250 of the world rankings . He made his debut on the ATP World Tour in 2005 in Valencia . In doubles he received a wildcard from the tournament officials . At the side of his compatriot José Antonio Sánchez de Luna , he lost in the first round against Igor Andrejew and Nikolai Dawydenko in straight sets. In the following two years he won four singles and eleven doubles titles on the Future Tour and finished the year in singles in 281st place.

2008-2015

2008 López Jaén took part at the Australian Open for the first time in the qualification for a Grand Slam tournament , failed there in the second qualifying round. He achieved his first success in doubles on the Challenger Tour. At the tournament in Tangier he prevailed in the final with Iván Navarro against Marc López and Gabriel Trujillo Soler in three sets. He made his debut in a Grand Slam at the French Open . After successfully surviving qualification, he beat Frank Dancevic in the first round . In the second round he had to admit defeat to the number 3 of the tournament Novak Đoković . In Telde and Košice he was in the double finals, but lost them. Thanks to these successes, he made it into the top 200 in the world for the first time in August. In Košice he was also in his only Challenger final in singles. This year he was registered in the 2nd tennis Bundesliga for RC Herpersdorf , which, however, withdrew its team before the start of the season. In 2009 , 2010 and 2011 he played in the 2nd tennis Bundesliga for the KTHC Stadion Rot-Weiss Cologne .

Due to the successes on the Challenger Tour, he achieved his best placings in both singles with 171st rank and in doubles with 175th rank in early 2009. Although López Jaén won two more Challenger titles in doubles in Reggio nell'Emilia and Rijeka , he was unable to defend this position. From then on, he mainly played future tournaments and only appeared occasionally in Challenger tournaments. Between 2011 and 2013 he won 20 doubles titles on the Future Tour, which made him one of the top 300 doubles, while he was only 843rd in singles at the end of 2013. He ended his career in 2015 after a first round at a future tournament in Kazakhstan.
