The SkiStar Swedish Open 2012 was a tennis tournament that took place from July 9th to 15th, 2012 in Båstad . It was part of the ATP World Tour 2012 and was played on clay court. During the same week, the Campbell's Hall of Fame Tennis Championships were played in Newport , the MercedesCup in Stuttgart and the ATP Vegeta Croatia Open in Umag , which, like the SkiStar Swedish Open, belonged to the ATP World Tour 250 category . A week later, the women's tournament of the same name of the WTA Tour 2012 took place in Båstad .

The defending champion in the singles, Robin Söderling , did not take part this year due to illness. David Ferrer won the final 6: 2, 6: 2 like in 2007 against Nicolás Almagro and thus secured his 16th career title and a total of fifth title of the current season. Almagro lost to his compatriot Ferrer for the fifth time in his career in an ATP final. Robert Lindstedt and Horia Tecău defended their title from last year in doubles, defeating Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares 6: 3, 7: 6 5 . They won the tournament for the third time after 2010 and 2011.

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in the singles each got a bye into the second round.
