The 111th French Open took place from May 27 to June 11, 2012 in Paris , France .

Defending champions in the singles were Rafael Nadal for men and Li Na for women. In the men's doubles Max Mirny and Daniel Nestor were the defending champions , in the women's doubles Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Hradecká . Casey Dellacqua and Scott Lipsky were the defending champions in mixed .

Nadal successfully defended his title in the final against Novak Đoković and became the sole record winner in Roland Garros. Maria Sharapova crowned her career by winning the French Open and the associated career grand slam . As in the previous year, Mirny and Nestor won the men's doubles, while Sara Errani and Roberta Vinci celebrated their first Grand Slam title in the women's doubles . In mixed, the Indians Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi were able to leave the competition behind.

The semi-finals of Antonia Lottner and the tournament victory of Annika Beck in the junior field are also worth mentioning .
