Antonia Lottner (born August 13, 1996 in Düsseldorf ) is a German tennis player .

Career

youth

Lottner drew attention to her tennis skills very early on. After learning her trade at David Squire's tennis school in Düsseldorf- Kaiserswerth , Lottner started playing for TC Moers 08 in 2009 . She won the national pups tournament in Detmold , youth tournaments in Essen and Moers and several European competitions.

Lottner became German champion in the U-12 age group, in spring 2010 in the U-14 age group and in summer 2011 German U-16 youth champion in singles and doubles . She was also number 1 in the German youth rankings in the U-16 age group.

Lottner also led the U-14 national team into the final round of the European Cup. She was invited by Barbara Rittner to several courses of the German Fed Cup team and was part of the DTB's C-squad main promotion junior women .

In June 2012 she reached the semi-finals of the junior competition of the French Open ; Lottner lost her game 5-7, 1-6 against Anna Karolína Schmiedlová and thus missed the finals. At Wimbledon , she made it to the quarter-finals in the junior competition in 2012, and at the US Open she was in the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the second time . There she lost to Samantha Crawford (6: 3, 1: 6 and 2: 6), who had already reached the first round with the professionals via qualification. Lottner also won the International German Junior Championships in Berlin in July 2012. In July 2012 she was number 3 in the world junior ranking list. On June 8, 2013, she lost the junior women's final of the French Open to Belinda Bencic 1: 6 and 3: 6.

Professional player

At the end of August 2010 Lottner played her first ITF tournament in Braunschweig . While she failed in the singles in the round of 16, she moved into the final with doubles partner Jana Nabel . There they lost to Aminat Kuschkowa and Olga Panowa 3: 6, 0: 6.

After reaching the final in doubles at the ITF tournament in Stockholm at the end of October 2011, Lottner won the singles final on November 6th and secured her first victory at an ITF tournament. In the final she defeated Quirine Lemoine 4: 6, 6: 4 and 7: 5. In the 2011 season she played for TC Moers 08 in the Bundesliga (one win each in singles and doubles).

Also in the 2012 season Lottner played for the Bundesliga team of TC Moers. At the end of April she failed to qualify for Anna-Lena Friedsam at the WTA tournament in Stuttgart . On July 22nd, she won her first double title alongside Julia Kimmelmann at the ITF tournament in Darmstadt .

For the 2013 season she moved to TEC Waldau Stuttgart . In February she won the $ 10,000 ITF Mâcon tournament in both singles and doubles. In the individual final, she prevailed against Anna-Giulia Remondina . In doubles she won together with Daria Salnikowa , with whom she had already reached the final a week earlier in Leimen against Francesca Palmigiano and Anna Remondina.

In 2014 she made it into the semi-finals of the doubles competition alongside Anna Zaja at the WTA Premier tournament in Stuttgart . Both had surprisingly moved up into the main field, where they lost in the semi-final of the pairing Cara Black / Sania Mirza only in the match tie-break with 2: 6, 6: 2 and [4:10].

With the two victories in July 2016 at the tournaments in Versmold and Prague , Lottner made it into the top 200 of the world rankings for the first time at the beginning of August . Therefore, she was able to register for qualification at the US Open . She reached the peloton there, but then lost to Vania King in the first lap .

In 2017 Lottner took part in the qualifying tournaments for the Australian Open , French Open and Wimbledon , but never qualified for the main draw. At the WTA International tournament in Gstaad in July , she reached the quarter-finals in the individual and achieved her greatest success so far in November when she reached the final of the WTA Challenge tournament in Limoges .

With these good results in the second half of 2017 and the good performance on the WTA Tour 2018 in Prague , Mallorca (both round of 16) and in 's-Hertogenbosch (quarter-finals), she was able to climb to 128th place in the world rankings in June 2018.

In February 2018 she will play in Minsk against Belarus for the first time for the German Fed Cup team . In her Fed Cup record she has a win and a loss to book.

In 2020 Lottner also took part in the Australian Open in the main draw for the first time , but lost in the first round to Italian Camila Giorgi in two sets with 3: 6 and 3: 6.
