Anna Zaja (born June 25, 1991 in Sigmaringen ) is a German tennis player .

Career

So far, Zaja has won six ITF tournaments in singles and twelve in doubles. Her greatest success so far was her entry into the semi-finals of the doubles competition at the WTA tournament in Stuttgart (category: Premier) in 2014 alongside Antonia Lottner . Both of them had surprisingly moved up into the main field, where they lost in the semi-finals of the pairing Cara Black / Sania Mirza only in the match tie-break with 2: 6, 6: 2 and [4:10].

In July 2018, Zaja jumped from position 240 to position 191 in the world rankings thanks to three successful tournaments in the ITF Women's Circuit . In Stuttgart she had to admit defeat to Mandy Minella , who was also strong , in the final, but won the final against Katharina Hobgarski the following week in Aschaffenburg . In the $ 60,000 Reinert Open in Versmold , she reached the semi-finals, which she then lost to Laura Siegemund .

Zaja played in 2007 , 2008 and 2009 for the TC Großhesselohe and in 2015 for the TEC Waldau Stuttgart in the German 2nd tennis Bundesliga .
