Match tie break

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Match-Tie-Break is an alternative to deciding a tennis match in the event of a tie . It is also known as the champions tie breaker.

If the score is 1: 1 sets in a match with two winning sets (or 2: 2 sets if three winning sets), such a tie-break can replace the decisive set. The player / pair of doubles who first won at least ten points (alternative: seven points) while at the same time being two points ahead wins the match tie-break and thus the game.

use

The match tie-break is used at the Hopman Cup , the Grand Slam tournaments (except at Wimbledon) and at the Olympics in mixed doubles. In addition, the mode has been in effect since 2006 ( ATP ) and 2007 ( WTA ) for the women's and men's doubles. The only exceptions are Grand Slam tournaments and the Davis Cup .
