WTA Challenger Series
The WTA Challenger Series (also called the WTA 125s ) is a series of tournaments in women's tennis . They are organized by the WTA and form the substructure of the WTA Tour . The Challenger tournaments are each endowed with prize money of 125,000 US dollars and are played within a week. Above all, they are used by players outside the top 100 of the world rankings to collect ranking points in order to be able to participate in the higher endowed WTA tournaments.
history
