Marina Eraković (born March 6, 1988 in Split , Yugoslavia ) is a former New Zealand tennis player .

Career

Eraković, who started tennis at the age of six, prefers hard courts according to the ITF profile. In the juniors category she won the double finals of the US Open in September 2004 together with Michaëlla Krajicek and, alongside Wiktoryja Asaranka, in January 2005 also the double title at the Australian Open .

Her best result in the individual competition of a Grand Slam tournament comes from 2008, when she moved into the third round at Wimbledon , in which she was defeated by Tamarine Tanasugarn . In 2011 she reached the semi-finals of the doubles competition there together with the Thai, which they lost in three sets against Sabine Lisicki and Samantha Stosur . Between June 2008 and February 2010 Eraković won four double titles with alternating partners on the WTA Tour , in 2011 another title was added in Linz alongside Jelena Wesnina. In 2012 she won WTA double titles number six and seven with Heather Watson , followed by her last so far, the second on grass , in 2014 alongside Arantxa Parra Santonja . She also won twelve singles and six doubles competitions at ITF tournaments. On May 7, 2012 Eraković reached her personal best in singles with 39th place in the WTA world rankings , in doubles she improved to 25th place on June 24, 2013. In Memphis , she achieved her only WTA tournament victory on February 23, 2013 Singles, although she benefited from the fact that Sabine Lisicki had to give up after the first set in the final. After the 2018 season, she ended her career.

From 2004 to 2014 Eraković played 27 games for the New Zealand Fed Cup team , in which they won 26 of their 38 games.
