The Bank of the West Classic 2012 was a WTA tennis tournament that was held from July 9-15, 2012 in Stanford . It took place parallel to the WTA tournament in Palermo .

The defending champion in the singles was Serena Williams . She was able to win the tournament again this year. In the final, she beat her compatriot Coco Vandeweghe in two sets with 7: 5 and 6: 3. It was her fourth title this year and her 43rd title in her professional career. In doubles, Wiktoryja Asaranka and Marija Kirilenko were the defending champions, but neither of them took part in the tournament. In this year's double-final, Marina Eraković and her partner Heather Watson won in two sets against the top seeded duo Jarmila Gajdošová and Vania King . For Eraković it was already the sixth double title, while for Watson it was the first title of her career.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 28 players, that of the doubles competition consisted of 16 pairs. The four top seeded players in singles and the top seeded pairing in doubles each received a bye in the first round.
