Micaela Larcher de Brito (born January 29, 1993 in Lisbon ), also known as Michelle Larcher de Brito , is a Portuguese tennis player .

life and career

At the age of nine, Larcher de Brito emigrated with her family to the USA, where she was trained by Nick Bolletieri at the IMG Academy until the end of 2007 . Her father António is Portuguese and was born in Angola ; her mother is from South Africa . Micaela has two older brothers, the twins Sebastião and Sergio. In 2008 she was awarded the Revelation Prize by the Fundação Luso-Brasileira (Portuguese-Brazilian Foundation) .

Micaela Larcher de Brito started playing tennis at the age of three when her father, who still trains and mentors her, took her to a club in Lisbon. The daughter caused a stir in 2009 when she qualified for the third round of the French Open at the age of 16 . At Wimbledon , she was also in round three in 2013 and 2014.

Larcher de Brito has been playing for the Portuguese Fed Cup team since 2009 , for which she has recorded 25 wins in 48 games so far.

Larcher de Brito played her last international tournament so far in March 2018. She is therefore no longer in the world rankings.

particularities

With many blows, Larcher de Brito moans very loudly and for a long time. Measurements at the French Open in 2009 showed a volume of up to 109 decibels. At the time, she was the loudest “moan” in professional tennis , ahead of Maria Sharapova (101 decibels).
