IMG Academy
IMG Academy is an IMG- owned private sports school in Bradenton , Florida .
IMG Academy offers its own training programs for tennis , golf , baseball , basketball , lacrosse , soccer , American football , athletics and cross-country running. The boarding school has more than 12,000 athletes and sports students of all ages within one year.
history
Nick Bollettieri founded the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy in 1978 . IMG acquired the company in 1987 and has been running it ever since. In 1993 David Leadbetter was hired for the Golf Academy or golf department. Football and baseball were added as an offer in 1994. From 1999 the academy became a boarding school with the name IMG Pendleton School , which has been operating under the name IMG Academy since 2012 .
In 2000 and 2001 the sports of hockey and basketball were added to the educational offer, after which the school complex was enlarged in 2002 until hockey was taken off the program again.
In 2010, the school introduced American football and lacrosse to its offering. Athletics and cross-country running have been part of the educational program since 2013.
Remarks
From 2011 to 2014, IMG provided over $ 200 million to invest in additional grounds and infrastructure for the academy.
Graduates
Since its inception, the IMG Academy has trained and trained many athletes for the Olympics and other gaming companies, such as those of the NBA , NFL , MLB , ATP , WTA and MLS .
