The Bank of the West Classic 2010 was the 14th edition of the tennis hard court tournament in Stanford . It was part of the 2010 WTA Tour as one of only five premier tournaments . The tournament took place on the campus of Stanford University from July 24 to August 1, 2010 and was the first competition in the US Open Series , the preparatory series for the US Open .

The defending champion was Marion Bartoli in singles and Serena Williams and Venus Williams in doubles .

In the singles Wiktoryja Asaranka won against Marija Sharapova 6: 4, 6: 1 and in the doubles Lindsay Davenport / Liezel Huber against Chan Yung-jan / Zheng Jie with 7: 5, 6: 7 8 , [10: 8].

The field of participants in the single competition consisted of 30 players, that of the double competition consisted of 16 pairs. The two top seeded players in the singles each received a bye into the second round.
