The HP Japan Women's Open Tennis 2010 was the 2nd edition of the women's hard court tennis tournament in Osaka , Japan . It was part of the WTA Tour 2010 as a tournament in the International category . It took place at the same time as the Generali Ladies Linz 2010 in Linz , Austria from October 11th to 17th, 2010.

Defending champion in singles was Samantha Stosur , who was eliminated in the quarterfinals, and in doubles Chuang Chia-jung / Lisa Raymond , who did not defend their title this year.

The winner in the individual was the unseeded Thai Tamarine Tanasugarn with a three-set victory over the Japanese Kimiko Date Krumm . In doubles, the pairing Chang Kai-chen / Lilia Osterloh won against the Japanese pairing Shuko Aoyama / Rika Fujiwara .
