Aiko Nakamura ( Japanese 中 村 藍 子 , Nakamura Aiko ; born December 28, 1983 in Tennōji-ku , Osaka ) is a Japanese tennis player .

Career

Nakamura, who prefers to play hard and grass courts, began playing tennis at the age of five. In November 1998 she played her first ITF tournament, in 1999 she became a professional player.

So far she has won four tournaments in singles and three in doubles on the ITF Circuit. In 2006 she reached the final of the Japan Open in Tokyo , but had to admit defeat to French Marion Bartoli in three sets 6: 2, 2: 6, 2: 6. In 2008 she was there in the double finals.

In 2011 she failed to qualify both at the Australian Open and in Paris. At Wimbledon, she did not appear at all. She has also not won a tournament on the WTA Tour in her professional career .

Between 2005 and 2009, Nakamura played for the Japanese team in the Fed Cup .

Since her failure to qualify at the US Open 2012 , she has not competed in any official tournament.
