Career

In singles, Morita reached the semi-finals in four WTA tournaments : in 2009 she had to give up on clay against Lucie Hradecká due to injury in Strasbourg , in the same year she lost on hard court in Guangzhou against Alberta Brianti in two sets, in 2010 she also failed on hard court in Kuala Lumpur to Alissa Kleibanowa and in the spring of 2013 she finally lost to Karolína Plíšková in two straight sentences. She achieved her best result in a Grand Slam tournament when she made it to the round of 16 of the Australian Open in 2011 and 2013.

In doubles, she stood with her compatriot Junri Namigata on the WTA Tour in the finals in Bangkok (2007) and Tokyo (2008). At the ITF Women's Circuit she won eight singles tournaments and three doubles titles with changing partners.

Morita was a member of the Japanese Fed Cup team from 2007 (their record: 23 wins, 14 defeats) and took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing .

Morita, who only competed in four tournaments in 2015, slipped to 794th place in the world rankings by the end of the year and was no longer listed there. In the summer of 2016, she tried a comeback at an ITF tournament, but gave up her first match in qualifying in the first set when the score was 2-5. In 2017 she returned to the WTA Tour, but did not get beyond qualification in her first tournaments.

She played her last match in February 2018 in the individual competition in Perth , where she was eliminated in the second qualifying round.
