Lucie Hradecká (born May 21, 1985 in Prague , ČSSR ) is a Czech tennis player .
Career
Hradecká started playing tennis at the age of four. Their preferred terrain is the lawn. Until mid-2011, she was trained by her sister, Petra, who was ten years her senior.
In 2002 Hradecká played her first professional match, and in 2003 she won her first two ITF tournaments.
She won her first title on the WTA Tour in 2006 in Portorož alongside Renata Voráčová . The pairing, seeded at number 4, won the final without a fight against Eva Birnerová and Émilie Loit . In Wimbledon , Hradecká reached the second round with Hana Šromová in 2006 . In Indian Wells she moved into the semi-finals of the double competition in 2007 together with Voráčová.
On June 3, 2011 Hradecká won the doubles competition at the French Open on the side of Andrea Hlaváčková . The pairing secured their first title in a Grand Slam tournament with a 6: 4, 6: 3 final victory over Sania Mirza and Jelena Wesnina .
In 2011, Hradecká also achieved good results in the individual. In April she reached the final at the WTA tournament in Barcelona with victories over Benešová , Errani and Vinci, and in May she was among the top 50 for the first time. She also moved into the semifinals and quarterfinals of the WTA tournaments in Memphis and Strasbourg and also reached the third round in Indian Wells.
On August 15, she won the eleventh WTA double title in Bad Gastein. After reaching the semi-finals in 2012 at the Australian Open on the side of Hlaváčková and the titles of Auckland and Memphis as well as the finals in Indian Wells, she improved in May 2012 to position 8 in the double world rankings.
At the clay court tournament in Madrid she then caused a sensation in the individual competition. Started as a qualifier in the tournament, after victories over Shuai Peng , Petra Kvitová , Jekaterina Makarowa and Samantha Stosur, she only failed in the semifinals against the eventual winner Serena Williams . At Wimbledon , she reached the final with Hlaváčková for the first time in 2012, which she lost to the Williams sisters in straight sets. At the US Open they were again in the final and were defeated by Roberta Vinci and Sara Errani 4-6 and 2-6. In October 2012, after her 15th WTA title in doubles in Luxembourg, she reached fourth place, her best ranking so far.
In Québec , Hradecká was in the singles for the first time since the clay court tournament in Barcelona in 2011 again in the final of a WTA tournament. But even in the fifth attempt she did not want to win the first individual title on the tour, she lost to Kirsten Flipkens with 1: 6 and 5: 7.
In the 2013 season, Hradecká won her number two and three Grand Slam titles. First, she and her compatriot František Čermák secured the title in the mixed competition in Roland Garros. Then she and her permanent partner Andrea Hlaváčková won the doubles competition at the US Open ; it was their eleventh joint title in professional tennis. At the end of the season, doubles partner Hlaváčková separated from her after five years.
With Michaëlla Krajicek she played the most tournaments in 2014. So the duo reached the final at the ITF tournament in Prague , which they won against Andrea Hlaváčková and Lucie Šafářová 6: 3 and 6: 2. At the French Open , she only failed in the semi-finals. She won the tournament in Québec with Mirjana Lučić-Baroni 6: 3, 7: 6 8 against Julia Görges and Andrea Hlaváčková. Then she played again with Hlaváčková and they won their first tournament in Poitiers .
In 2015 she played the entire season with Hlaváčková, with a few exceptions. She did not win a title with her, but reached a final three times. With Julia Görges she won the tournament in New Haven . The season was rewarded with the qualification for the WTA Championships , where she was eliminated in the semifinals.
At the Australian Open 2016 she was with Hlaváčková in the final of the Grand Slam tournament for the first time, in which they only had to admit defeat to the top-placed women's doubles at the time, Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza , 6: 7 1 and 3: 6.
Since 2010 she has also played for the Czech Fed Cup team , with which she won the team competition in 2011 , 2012 , 2014 and 2015 . Her record so far in the Fed Cup : 6: 2 wins in doubles, 1: 3 in singles.
At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Hradecká won the bronze medal in mixed together with Radek Štěpánek .
