Paula Ormaechea (born September 28, 1992 in Sunchales , Santa Fe Province ) is an Argentine tennis player .
Career
Ormaechea, who has been on the professional tour since 2011, has won 15 singles and nine doubles titles at ITF tournaments so far. In 2009 Ormaechea played for the Argentine Fed Cup team for the first time . In their Fed Cup balance sheet there are 16 wins and 12 losses.
In 2011 she clearly lost to Abigail Spears (1: 6, 1: 6) in the third qualifying round at the WTA tournament in Brussels . In the same year she qualified for the main draw in Bad Gastein , but had to admit defeat to María José Martínez Sánchez in round one .
In 2012 Ormaechea then qualified for the main draw at the Australian Open ; she lost in the second round to Agnieszka Radwańska . At the French Open , she was eliminated in the first round against Venus Williams . In Wimbledon and at the US Open , she failed each in qualifying.
In 2013 she failed to qualify for the Australian Open , but reached her first final on the WTA Tour in Bogotá in February , which she clearly lost to Jelena Janković with 1: 6, 2: 6. In May it was very successful in France. First she won her first $ 50,000 ITF tournament in Saint Gaudens , then she reached the third round in the French Open in the individual competition. At Wimbledon , however, she failed again in qualifying. At the US Open , where she was qualified for the main draw, she reached the second round.
