The WTA Championships 2016BNP Paribas WTA Finals - Singapore 2016 ) were the women's tennis tournament with the highest endowment in terms of points and prize money (after the four Grand Slam tournaments) as part of the WTA Tour 2016 . singles qualification The eight best placed women of the WTA Tour 2016 were qualified . In addition, the two next best points came as reservists.
Competition mode In the round-robin phase (Engl. Round Robin ) played four players in two groups each against all. The top two in each group qualified for the semi-finals, which were played according to the knockout system . The winner of each group played against the second in the other group and the winners of those games played the final.
