The WTA Championships 2016 (also known as BNP Paribas WTA Finals - Singapore 2016 ) were the women's tennis tournament with the highest endowment in terms of points and prize money (after the four Grand Slam tournaments) as part of the WTA Tour 2016 . The hard court tournament took place from October 23-30, 2016 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium .
The previous year's winners in Singapore were Agnieszka Radwańska in singles and Martina Hingis and Sania Mirza in doubles.

The eight best placed women of the WTA Tour 2016 were qualified . In addition, the two next best points came as reservists.
Competition mode
In the round-robin phase (Engl. Round Robin ) played four players in two groups each against all. The top two in each group qualified for the semi-finals, which were played according to the knockout system . The winner of each group played against the second in the other group and the winners of those games played the final.
