The WTA Championships 2018 (also known as BNP Paribas WTA Finals - Singapore 2018 ) were the tennis tournament with the highest value in points and prize money in the women's tournament calendar after the four Grand Slam tournaments . The hard court tournament of the WTA Tour 2018 took place from October 21-28, 2018 at the Singapore Indoor Stadium .
The defending champions in Singapore were Caroline Wozniacki in singles and Tímea Babos and Andrea Sestini Hlaváčková in doubles. In the singles Elina Switolina won , in the doubles the French-Hungarian pairing Kristina Mladenovic and Tímea Babos was successful.

The eight best placed women of the WTA Tour 2018 were qualified . In addition, the two next best points came as reservists.
1 Simona Halep resigned her participation in the WTA Championships on October 18th due to a back injury.
Competition mode
In the round of the tournament four players each played in two groups, each against each other (round robin) . The top two in each group qualified for the semi-finals, which were played in a knockout system . The winner of each group played against the second in the other group and the winners of those games played the final.
