At the French Open , she reached the semifinals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time , including after an opening win over Angelique Kerber . There she was defeated by Serena Williams in two sentences. In the course of the season she also secured double titles with Larsson in Linz and Luxembourg .

At the Nuremberg Insurance Cup 2017 , she was able to defend her previous year's title in individual; it was her third WTA single title. She is the only player to date to have won this tournament twice. In the women's doubles she won the tournament in Auckland with Johanna Larsson in the same year; it was her sixth double title on the WTA Tour.
