History of the women's department

The women's teams have been the club's figurehead for more than two decades. The women's division was founded in 1986. The first team began in the district class and rose to the district league. In 1988 he was promoted to the 2nd association league, the following year the march through to the 1st association league. The road to success continued through the Oberliga (1995), Regionalliga (1997) to the first promotion to the tennis Bundesliga in 1998 with the then top player Patty Schnyder .

A year later, 16-year-old Kim Clijsters was announced. After finishing second in 2000, he won the German championship in 2001. Due to a lack of sponsors, it was decided to withdraw from the Bundesliga before the 2002 season. The TC Blau-Weiss withdrew in the Niederrheinliga and celebrated promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2004. With a new sponsor and under the name TC WattExtra , the return to the Bundesliga was made perfect in 2007. In 2008, the then unknown 16-year-old Dane Caroline Wozniacki was hired . The later world number one played for the Bocholt Bundesliga club for two years.
