Miriam Schnitzer (born January 14, 1977 in Freiburg ) is a former German tennis player .

Career

Schnitzer, who began playing tennis at the age of four, achieved her highest ranking in the world rankings on June 14, 1999 with position 109 . On September 11, 2000, she posted her best double ranking with 317th place. In 1997 she was able to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament for the first time at Wimbledon . In the same year she won the ITF tournaments in Rogaška Slatina and Buchen. The following year she was able to win her first match in a Grand Slam tournament at the US Open. In 2000 she won the ITF tournaments in Darmstadt and Vaihingen and became German indoor champion. In 2001 she reached the quarter-finals at the German Open , her greatest sporting success. There she was eliminated with 4: 6 and 2: 6 against Justine Henin .

In the German tennis Bundesliga she played for the TC Blau-Weiss Bocholt , with whom she became German team champion in 2001 together with Kim Clijsters , Barbara Schett and others.
