Luksika Kumkhum ( Thai ลัก ษิ กา คำ ขำ , RTGS Laksika Khamkham , nickname Lak , born July 21, 1993 in Chanthaburi ) is a Thai tennis player .

Career

Luksika Kumkhum, who according to the ITF profile prefers the hard court , began playing tennis at the age of four. So far, she has won 15 singles and 12 doubles titles at tournaments on the ITF Women's Circuit . In 2013 Kumkhum first played for the Thai Fed Cup team ; their Fed Cup record shows so far 18 wins and 8 losses.

From 2010 she played at smaller ITF tournaments in Asia and in October she was able to celebrate her first tournament victory in Pattaya as a qualifier. She also reached the finals in other tournaments. In May 2011 she won two titles in a row at tournaments in Bangkok. In early June, she played the final in a $ 25,000 tournament in Bangkok, but lost to Marta Sirotkina . Another tournament victory in Pattaya followed two weeks later. By the end of 2011 Luksika also won the tournaments in Kuching and Manila.

In February 2012 she took part in the qualification of a WTA tournament for the first time, but in the final round of Kuala Lumpur she lost in straight sets against Kristýna Plíšková . In July she won a smaller tournament in Pattaya, followed two weeks later by her first individual title at the ITF tournament in Astana. Her first match in the main round of a WTA tournament she completed on September 18, 2012 in Guangzhou , where she clearly lost to Duan Yingying, who had played with a wildcard . On October 9, Luksika was again in the main draw of a WTA tournament, where she lost to Mirjana Lučić in just three sets.

At the Australian Open in 2014, she caused a surprise. In her opening game, she defeated the top ten player and former Wimbledon winner Petra Kvitová in three sets, making it into the second round like last year. In Wimbledon and the US Open, she failed in the second round of qualification.

Double

So far, Luksika has won 12 ITF titles in the doubles competition. On the WTA Tour in 2014 she reached the semi-finals alongside Erika Sema in Kuala Lumpur .
