Xuzhou ( Chinese 徐州 市 , Pinyin Xúzhōu Shì ) is a district-free city in the north of the east Chinese province of Jiangsu . Your administrative area has an area of 11,257 km² and approx. 8.58 million inhabitants; 3.05 million inhabitants lived in the 5 districts of the closer city (end of 2010).
Administrative structure
At the county level, Xuzhou consists of 5 city districts , three districts and two independent cities . These are:
- Yunlong district (云龙 区), 118 km², 290,000 inhabitants (2004), center, seat of the city government;
- Gulou district (鼓楼 区), 212 km², 380,000 inhabitants (2004);
- Jiawang District (贾汪 区), 690 km², 430,000 inhabitants (2010);
- Quanshan district (泉山区), 62 km², 430,000 inhabitants (2004);
- Tongshan municipality (铜 山区), 1,856 km², 1.14 million inhabitants (2010), capital: Tongshan municipality (铜 山镇);
- Feng County (丰县), 1,446 km², 960,000 million inhabitants (2010), capital: Fengcheng Municipality (凤 城镇);
- Pei district (沛县), 1,349 km², 1.14 million inhabitants (2010), capital: Peicheng municipality (沛 城镇);
- Suining district (睢宁县), 1,767 km², 1.04 million inhabitants (2010), capital: Suicheng municipality (睢 城镇);
- City of Pizhou (邳州 市), 2,088 km², 1.46 million inhabitants (2010);
- City of Xinyi (新沂 市), 1,571 km², 920,000 inhabitants (2010).
The Jiuli District was dissolved in May 2010 and divided into the Gulou, Quanshan, and Tongshan Districts.

Xuzhou is a transportation hub connected by highways and railways to Shanghai , Lianyungang , Jinan ( Shandong ) and Zhengzhou ( Henan ) and has a domestic airport.
Twin cities
Xuzhou has been a twin town of Saint-Etienne in France since 1984 and of Bochum (economic town twinning) and Leoben since 1994 . Since November 2005 it has also been a twin town of the Thuringian state capital Erfurt . Since 2012 Xuzhou has been a twin town of Morgantown in the state of West Virginia in the USA.

Xuzhou Museum
The Xuzhou Museum ( Xuzhou bowuguan ) houses many clay figures from the Han period and other jade treasures as well as the two jade death dresses of Prince Liu Sheng (155-113 BC) and Princess Tou Wan, which were made in 1968 in the Han graves were found in Mancheng .
