The women's singles of the Australian Open 2019 was a tennis competition in Melbourne .

Last year's winner was Caroline Wozniacki . The tournament was won by Naomi Osaka , who celebrated her second Grand Slam title after the 2018 US Open . In the final, she triumphed against Petra Kvitová with 7: 6, ² , 5: 7 and 6: 4, and with this victory on January 28, 2019, she became the first Asian tennis player to top the world rankings in women's singles .

Qualification for the Australian Open for women took place from January 8th to 11th, 2019. 16 qualifying places were played, which entitle them to participate in the main draw of the tournament.
