Last year's winner was Sylvia Lance Harper . Daphne Akhurst won the final with 1: 6, 8: 6 and 6: 4 against Esna Boyd . For Akhurst it was the first final victory at the Australasian Championships, whereas Boyd suffered her fourth final defeat in a row.
