Kimberly Birrell (born April 29, 1998 in Düsseldorf , Germany ) is an Australian tennis player .

Career

Kimberly Birrell's parents are Australians. When she was born, her father John was a tennis instructor in Germany. When she was three years old, the family moved back to Australia. Birrell has had a successful junior career that has brought her to 18th place in the world junior rankings. Among other things, she reached the semi-finals of the junior women competition at the Australian Open in 2014 .

She mainly plays in tournaments of the ITF Women's Circuit , where she has won two singles and one double title so far. She made her debut on the WTA Tour , equipped with a wildcard , in the doubles competition in Hobart in 2014 , where she and her partner Olivia Tjandramulia were eliminated in the first round.

In December 2018 she won the Australian Wildcard Playoffs , for which there was a wildcard for the main draw in the singles of the Australian Open 2019 .

In 2016 she made her first appearance for the Australian Fed Cup team .
