At the beginning of 2012 Martić was in her first WTA individual final in Kuala Lumpur , in which she had to give up against Hsieh Su-wei at 1: 4 in the third set due to injury. Three weeks earlier, she had lost her first WTA double final at the side of Anna-Lena Grönefeld against Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond in Paris . In addition, she made it into the round of 16 of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time at the French Open , after she was able to record her first success over a top 10 player in the second round against Marion Bartoli before she was eliminated by Angelique Kerber.
