The 2020 Fed Cup is the 58th edition of the women's national team tennis tournament . The mode has changed compared to the previous year. The previous world groups will be replaced by a qualification in February with 16 teams and a final tournament in April with 12 teams.

Annotation:

• The Czech Republic, the fourth winner of the 2019 play-offs from the world group, received a wildcard for the final tournament. As a result, the team from the Netherlands advanced into the qualification.
• The eight best teams in the Fed Cup nation ranking were seeded. The other teams were drawn to them.

The group stage draw took place on February 11, 2020 at the Szépművészeti Múzeum in Budapest. The heads of the four groups were the defending champion (France), the finalist of the previous edition (Australia) and the two highest-placed teams in the ranking among the remaining participants (United States and the Czech Republic). Then the 5-8 teams placed in the ranking (Belarus, Germany, Russia and Spain) and the 9-12 teams placed in the ranking (Slovakia, Switzerland, Belgium and Hungary) were drawn to the groups.
