The 2012 Rogers Cup is a tennis tournament that took place in Montreal from August 7th to 13th, 2012 . The defending champion in the singles was Serena Williams , who did not defend her title after winning two gold medals at the Olympic Games in London. In doubles, Liezel Huber and Lisa Raymond competed as the top seeded pair to defend their title. The previous year they won the final against the duo Wiktoryja Asaranka and Marija Kirilenko without a fight.

The field of participants in the individual competition consisted of 48 players, that of the double competition consisted of 28 pairs. The sixteen top seeded players in singles and the four top seeded pairings in doubles each receive a bye into the second round.

qualification

Eight qualifier places were played out for the individual, which entitle them to participate in the main field of the tournament.
